In 1997, Silpakorn University initiated a policy to expand educational opportunities to provinces near its original campuses, led by Professor Emeritus Khunying Khaisri Sri-aroon. This led to the establishment of the Phetchaburi IT Campus. In 1999, Professor Dr. Trujai Buranasomphob, then President, obtained Cabinet approval to move the new campus to Sam Phraya, Cha-am, Phetchaburi, with plans to establish the Faculty of Animal Sciences and Agricultural Industry as the first faculty. On March 7, 2001, the University Council approved renaming it the "Faculty of Animal Sciences and Agricultural Technology" to avoid overlap with existing programs. Under the leadership of President Put Veerabrasert, 200 rai of land was secured on August 13, 2003, for an experimental farm, which began construction in 2005. Since June 1, 2009, the faculty has operated under a centralized management system at the Phetchaburi campus. In 2019, the university announced a new internal organization, dividing the faculty into the Office of the Dean and the Agricultural Training and Technology Transfer Center.
