The Faculty of Music at Silpakorn University was established in 1998, originally known as the "Faculty of Music Establishment Project" initiated by Professor Dr. Trujai Buranasomphob, former President of Silpakorn University, with the collaboration of many figures in the music industry. It is the university's 10th faculty, and its first director was Pilot Officer Special Professor Dr. Manrat Srikaranonda.

The Faculty admitted its first cohort of students in the 1999 academic year. Currently, it offers a diverse range of programs in music and the entertainment industry from undergraduate to doctoral levels. Undergraduate degrees consist of two programs: the Bachelor of Music (B.M.) with six majors—Classical Music, Music and Creative Media, Jazz, Commercial Music, Musical Theatre, and Entrepreneurship in Music Education; and the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Entertainment Industry with two majors—Music and Entertainment Business, and Idol and Influencer Management and Development. Graduate studies include the Master of Music in Music Research and Development, while the doctoral level (Ph.D.) offers two programs: Music Research and Development, and Creative Economy, Music, Innovation, and Soft Power.

The Faculty integrates classroom instruction with real-world experience, consistently supporting students in public performances at the university and other prominent venues. This serves as an academic service and professional experience that meets the needs of society, communities, the nation, and international standards. These elements shape graduates of the Faculty of Music at Silpakorn University into musicians of the 'Silpakorn Music Style'—possessing open-mindedness and intellectual freedom based on solid knowledge, principles, philosophy, and theory. It encourages the use of creativity to build upon new knowledge in line with contemporary trends and behaviors, enabling innovative cross-disciplinary integration.
